First Education Policy of the 21st Century
National Education Policy 2020 is the first education policy of the 21st century. It has an inclusive framework defining the future of education in the country starting from the elementary to the higher education level.
It aims to address the many growing developmental imperatives of this country. To this effect, the policy proposes transformation of all aspects of the education structure, including its regulation and governance, to suit the 21st century education. It emphasizes development of creative potential while remaining consistent with India’s traditions and value systems. The policy focuses more on practical and experiential learning which will lead to instilling the 21st century skills of creativity and critical thinking in the children. It suggests the use of latest tools and technologies and improving the gross enrollment ratio by providing access to high quality education to everyone irrespective of socio-economic background.
